Saint Sugar of London Est. 2009
Artisan Bakers
Sonia and Enzo started experimenting with food in 2009, before Saint Sugar’s current taster in chief, her little daughter Ida, was born. They had accidentally met in London while both working in hospitality.
She had left home at 15 to live a life of her own and set up to travel. Enzo as a food designer had grown tired of the rurality of small Italian towns and moved to cosmopolitan London.
Here both passionate about design, health and emotionally attached to food as a connection to their native lands and familiar roots, decided to start Saint Sugar of London as a lifestyle bakery, from their kitchen before moving to larger premises.
Their guiding principles were simple: classics revisited in a nutritious, sustainable form, the cook self-expressing with new shapes and colours.
AGAINST A FOOD INDUSTRY THAT HIGHLY-PROCESS BLANDNESS AND FLATTEN THE ESSENTIALS OF A MEAL
We will turn eating into an experience, aspiring towards conviviality , care of a body as a temple and casket of inner energy that connects ourselves to nature and the ancestral spirit within.
